Why do Americans regularly bleat on about being embarrassed by Trump? It is my view that these people have an inflated view of themselves if they think that people are sitting over here with nothing better to do than mutter "what an embarrassment Trump must be to Americans" over cups of tea. Of course we don't.
We've got enough embarrassments of our own to keep us occupied thank you very much. We have an entire Labour government running this country on the politics of envy and hate for those who might just aspire to getting on and achieving something in their country which along the way may make them a bit of money as well as for the country in tax payments.
We have a government sitting there not wanting to improve the life of the not so well off but to do the opposite by making the better off suffer, the ones who have never claimed welfare, those who make a bit of money, who improve the fabric of the country, who pay their taxes. Make them suffer and we'll give it to the ones who make a way of life of not getting out of bed in the mornings, we'll give it to them as welfare and we'll give it to the illegals as welfare and houses and we'll see that the rest of you suffer.
If I were you Americans I would be proud that you have a president who actually cares about America. Our country's leaders do not care about Britain and British people at all.
Perhaps ebola will be the salvation one day and everything will grind to a halt across the Med and through France. The American president has already stopped ebola countries entering the US. You should think yourself lucky. Our government haven't even thought about it except to say "don't worry, it isn't catching".
One of Starmer's ministers recently wrote that every time he goes to a meeting, they are discussing who, or what, they can tax next. The sooner we have a change of government the better.

DeleteThings will only get worse. I fear that Reform may form the next government. I'm not anxious to see that.
ReplyDeleteThere are a number of scenarios which will render the situation getting worse such as if we have another 5 years of a Labour government, or we have a coalition of Labour and Green. It is unlikely that Reform will be seen as fit to govern by the British voters under Farage on current fundamentals and I do not see them being voted in to form a government, as I have said before on this blog when asked. In my opinion much of what Farage says in terms of what he can do for this country is pie in the sky.
DeleteI enjoy reading you because you often have opinions contrary to my own and I appreciate access to another point of view. In addition, being an expat, I like to get a wide range of reporting on UK politics and I can rely on you to back up your opinions with good arguments. Food prices in the US have sky rocketed, childhood infectious diseases have resurged, the military has been sent to patrol cities whose only crime was to vote against Trump, elected leaders of other countries have been assassinated or kidnapped, wars have been started without the approval of Congress (a requirement by law) insider trading by the Trump family and associates has made them millions if not billions, this was clearly demonstrated by British journalists, once trustworthy news sources no longer report anything negative about the president for fear of reprisals, a medical safety net for the poor was dismantled by the Trump regime. The US economy has strengthened under Trump but many people with years of experience are pointing out that the signs are all there for a collapse. I could go on. Britain is a mess there is no doubt but don't presume strong leadership in the US is, in this case, a good thing.
