Gardening

Well yesterday I cut the grass on the ride-on.  I enjoy the fun of it and go all over the place.  I don't keep in straight lines like my brothers do.  They do it like they are cutting a hayfield.  When my brother first delivered the mower he gave me a lesson, it was like ploughing the field he said, or cutting the hay, and he said I would know what to do (yeh, course)  all that about not running over the cut hay and running clockwise etc. etc.   I did it a bit like this at first keeping to good farming habits  but now I have more fun and run around in whatever patterns I feel like.  I wish I had had the mower before and not relied on one of the boys to cut it for me.   Now instead of forking out some cash to them  every fortnight I just do it at my own pace in my way. If I wanted to protect an orchid or something I had to "pen it up", no good just telling him "please avoid the orchid".  Now the orchids haven't flowered for about 5 years so I haven't had to worry about them but I can leave anything else I fancy leaving, weed or no weed.   The orchid was a bee orchid and I read that sometimes they only flower once and then they go dormant for years.  I am assuming this is what has happened. Oh well, it came out one year for me.

My brother brought me some wood during one of the power cuts (he was on, I was off, we live 8 miles apart but he said it was too stormy for him to do anything outside so he drove over with the wood for me his electricity had been off 9 hours the day before when the cables all came down over a ten mile stretch and I was only off for three hours but he has a generator)  which he thought I could chop for kindling but when I came to it this afternoon with the family 100 year old chopper I discovered the grain was wrong and it wouldn't chop; you need a straight grain for easy chopping. I have been chopping kindling since I was about 8.   This wood had a dense, tight grain so it will be burnt in the fire as it is.  But it isn't any good for kindling. I tested a piece for size as they were quite big pieces and it fits in the woodburner.  It is some old wood out of something like a truck floor or whatever, solid so should give out some good heat when the time comes.

One final word for Trump opposers, he won't change even if he loses, he will be empowered so stop getting excited.  He is not the sort to crumble and go and hide, enjoy having a good President while you have one.  Don't carry on staying silent about Obama and Biden forever, it does not become you.  And Clinton was entertaining with the intern and sex in the Oval office and in the corridor where he couldn't wait to get himself against the wall and his flies undone. I will study what our government have done in the Budget when I can get around to it.  And may I remind you that the last Labour Government took their eye off the banks and we ended up with the banking crisis and no mortgages for the young unless they had a big lot of money from mum and dad.   And if I lived in Israel I would vote for Netanyahu and I fail to see why any Israeli would vote for anyone else.  At least he will defend you to the end. I know I will be paying more tax and I have not had any notification about fuel help.  If you had a Conservative government you would be getting help and you wouldn't be taxed to the hilt nor national insurance payments so prohibitive that employees count each employee as a stab in the back  so they won't have them and employee numbers will be down and down and down.  No more clever youngsters being plumbers and electricians because they can't be paid unless the public pay them and you get a big load of money out of the bank in cash.  Do you remember going to the Post Office to buy your stamp and sticking it on a card?  It used to be bad, bad.  Now it is bad, bad, bad, bad as bad  and the worst since  records began in 1948.  If you want to live well, go and live in Bulgaria, take a rural place and learn to slaughter a pig, pluck and dress a chicken and live with a woodburner like I do. Eat a pie that you made and have a fire in the garden and let smoke rise.  In Britain the senior doctors, the consultants I suppose will be involved, are going on strike next week.  My great niece and her husband  run two E top of the range vehicles that look identifical but are probably different because you can't tell SUVs apart.  He works during the week and fits in private clinics and then just to get even richer he does some more on a Saturday and sometimes even works late on a Saturday.
